Amsterdam Piano Series, organized by Gutman Records, started in season 2017-2018 at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, starring piano and pianists. It offers a varied program for a broadly interested audience.
Upcoming
Ramon from
Engelenhoven
Ramon van Engelenhoven is considered one of the greatest young Dutch pianists. After his successful debut, the pianist returns to the Recital Hall of The Concertgebouw with preludes by Rachmaninoff, film music by Bernard Herrmann and new music by Ramin Amin Tafreshi.
Van Engelenhoven presents an extremely diverse program this evening. After a beloved sonata by Mozart, you will hear the latest collaboration with composer Ramin Amin Tafreshi in a world premiere of a major work that will reflect on questions and tensions of our time. After intermission, you will hear music by composers who have all lived on the West Coast of the United States, but whose roots were elsewhere. Famous preludes by Rachmaninoff will be followed by film music by Franz Waxman and Bernard Herrmann, including a suite from Hitchcock's Vertigo, composed and arranged by Van Engelenhoven.

Antoine
Préat
French-Belgian-British pianist Antoine Préat presents a richly expressive program for his debut at Het Concertgebouw, featuring works from his forthcoming, second album with Naïve Records. His first release, All That Surrounds Us, was widely praised and marked him as "the unmissable new talent of the season" (Le Nouvel Obs), praised for its "singing warmth and eloquence" (Diapason) and "an absorbing anthology, brilliantly played and manipulated" (The Arts Desk).
Antoine Préat performs a compelling and colorful program ranging from Baroque serenity to 20th-century drama. The concert opens with Bach's Sheep May Safely Graze, arranged for piano in Egon Petri's evocative arrangement. Haydn's Sonata in B minor follows - a menacing and concise sonata that alternates between dark and light and offers a taste of the cruel grip of fate. Chopin's Three rollers, op. 34 bring warmth and lyricism, full of subtlety and charm, before Schumann's Arabesque offers a gentle, introspective twist. The evening culminates in Prokofiev's Ten parts from Romeo and Juliet - a tour de force of color, rhythm and character, where Préat brings the tragic ballet to life at the keyboard.
J.S. Bach Schafe können sicher weiden (from Cantate "Was mir behagt, ist nur die Muntre Jagd!", BWV 208 (arr. E. Petri))
Haydn Sonata in b, Hob. XVI: 32
Chopin Three waltzes, op. 34
Schumann Arabesque in C, op. 18
Prokofiev Ten movements from "Romeo and Juliet," op. 75

Natacha
Kudritskaya
'The music is here and there, all around us. I don’t write it, don’t invent it, I just put it on the score.'– Valentin Silvestrov. Natacha Kudritskaya explores in this program different approaches to beauty, with each composer offering a unique perspective. Osvaldo Golijov’s ZZ’s Dream features imaginative textures that blur the boundaries between reality and dreams. Silvestrov’s music flows like a stream of consciousness - delicate and atmospheric, reflecting the world around us in real time. Couperin’s intellectual elegance is so refined that his lyrical beauty feels timeless. Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata embodies philosophical depth, revealing the inner emotional landscape of the composer. Finally, Golijov’s Levante, inspired by the winds of change, reminds us that music can be a universal language that crosses boundaries and connects us all.
